Washington Township, Pennsylvania (August 17, 2017) – A teenager lost his life Wednesday afternoon after he was involved in a 2-vehicle crash in Washington Township.

The collision occurred at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 16 on Route 19 at Ruff Creek on-ramp.

State police said that 19-year-old Nicholas Hillsman was traveling north on Route 19 when he crashed into a tri-axle truck that was traveling south on the road and as it turned onto the Ruff Creek on-ramp to head south on Interstate 79.

Hillsman sustained injuries and was transported to WHS-Greene Hospital in Waynesburg for treatment. Unfortunately, he died at the hospital. The driver of the truck, identified as James Weldon Smith, 41, of McClellandtown was not hurt in the accident.

Waynesburg-Franklin volunteer firefighters assisted police at the site.

It was not known if Smith will face any charges.
