Several People Injured in Fiery Salisbury Township 2-Vehicle Collision
Salisbury Township, Pennsylvania (September 10, 2017) – Several people sustained injuries after a crash which caused at least two cars to burn on Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 78 in Lehigh County, as per a local news source article.
The incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. September 6, on Interstate 78 just east of the Lehigh Street exit in Salisbury Township.
According to dispatchers, the accident seemed to have started on the eastbound lanes with one car flipping over the median and into the westbound lane.
At least two people came out of a crashed car with injuries. About 50 gallons of fuel spilled from a broken saddle tank of a tractor-trailer that was involved in the incident and some fuel were flowing into a storm drain.
At least two people were covered in fuel and were being cleaned, according to dispatchers.
Limited details regarding the number of people injured and the number of cars involved in the incident were available at the time of the report.
Eastbound traffic was blocked, and westbound traffic was slowed down.
Police were still investigating the incident to determine its cause and liability.
