Young Girl Hospitalized after being Hit by Car in Tunkhannock Township Bicycle Crash

Child Hit by Car, Man Arrested in Monroe County Bicycle Collision
Monroe County, Pennsylvania (August 24, 2017) – A girl riding a bicycle was hit and injured by a car in Tunkhannock Township on Saturday, according to Pocono Mountain Regional police.
The incident was reported at 5:06 p.m. August 19, on Hellers Lane in Long Pond.
According to an initial investigation, the driver of the car had been assaulted by Joseph Rodriguez, 37, of Long Pond address. Rodriguez fired the man’s car, but no one was got by the gunfire.
The young bicyclist was flown by medical helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest with injuries described by police as minor and was expected to be released from the hospital in a day.
Rodriguez was arrested for possession of a firearm, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and criminal mischief.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
