Ambulance Crew Injured in Collision with Garbage Truck in Lawrence County

Audrey Hartwick, 40, and Ashley Ivan, 31, Injured in Crash at Aleyna Drive
Lawrence County, Pennsylvania (September 6, 2017) – Two paramedics were hurt after an ambulance was struck by a garbage truck at Aleyna Drive, Lawrence County, on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 12:33 p.m. September 5 on Aleyna Drive in Lawrence County.
According to a statement from Elite EMS Inc. Audrey Hartwick, 40, of Saegertown, was driving the ambulance on State Route from UPMC Jameson to UPMC Horizon when a garbage truck, driven by David M. Bortmes, of Karns City, rear-ended it after it had stopped at Aleyna Drive.
Ashley Ivan, 31, of Farrell, was seated at the back of the ambulance attending to an unidentified patient on a stretcher when the accident happened.
The two paramedics of were taken to Farrell Hospital for treatment.
The patient who was inside the ambulance was not injured in the crash.
