Bicyclist Struck and Injured by Car on Route 322

Nevin Shirk injured in Bicycle Accident on Route 322 in Clay Township
Clay Township, Pennsylvania (September 22, 2017) – 27-year-old Nevin Shirk, of Bethlehem area, was injured after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on Route 322 in Clay Township on Thursday morning.
According to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police, the accident happened at about 6:19 a.m. September 21.
As per the report, Nevin was riding his bicycle eastbound when he was struck by a Ford pickup truck driven by 34-year-old Elton Hoover Zimmerman, of West Main Street, Ephrata.
The bicyclist was injured in the collision and was taken to Ephrata hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the police, the bicyclist was wearing dark clothing his bicycle lacked a working rear red flashing light.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
